This was one of the most favs of my late grandmother (meri pyari nani🥰) for a chilling winter morning breakfast/ snack time. And now mine!😁🌾
She had a taste for spicy (chatapatta) and on mornings like these, we used to enjoy aloo matar ghughri with chai and chit-chats haha😅
In fact, all my peas (all types of peas I mean, these green ones or the dry ones in chaat) recipes are largely all inspired by hers😊
So, as I was thinking to make something spicy and fresh and as always with a little bit of potato, I knew what I just needed 🥰
The prep is pretty simple with 2 tbsp mustard oil, heated and crackling 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds, 1 green chili finely chopped, and adding-in 2 small roughly cut boiled potatoes and 1 cup of peas into it. Next, time to add some punch so splash in the spices that you enjoy into the mix, which for me always means little turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chaat masala, and of course, salt to taste and stir fry for another one minute and voila! Serve it with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a cup of tea or coffee☕. Ah! heavens❤
Am off to enjoy my chapatti aloo-matar ghughri now and hopefully leaving you with the thought of trying it for yourself soon!
This never misses bringing back fond memories of time spent with my granny 🙂
